Job Description

· Develop and implement long term strategies for manufacturing and product lines based on Sales and  Marketing projections.
· Establish an ongoing capacity review process as the business grows and changes.
· Participate as a member of the Supply Chain Leadership team.
· Establish an ongoing capacity review process as the business grows and changes.
· Challenge and implement plant processes in order to improve productivity, lower cost and continuous improvement.
· Effective human resources management by continuously reviewing headcount in line with business needs and maintaining discipline and good performance standards.
· Initiate, improve and maintain waste reduction programme and cost cutting initiatives for the Manufacturing Division.
· Ensure that weekly and monthly production plans are met and reports are executed.
· Ensure that all product are within the specifications.
· Sustain a healthy and safe work environment at all times for associates, contractors and visitors.
· Liaise with Engineering on plant breakdowns, plan maintenance shutdowns in advance and effectively schedule improvement projects.
· Together with engineering drive the principles of the Total Productive Maintenance strategy.
· Ensure each plant complies with stock control measures and completes weekly stock counts.

Minimum Requirements

· Minimum of 15 years managerial experience in a bakery manufacturing environment.

· Knowledge of manufacturing systems, process controls and instrumentation required.

· Working knowledge of FSSC 22000 requirements.

· Demonstrate knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield)

· Demonstrate ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.

· Demonstrate ability to analyze and resolve problems.

· Demonstrate mechanical and spatial aptitude, including the ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment.

· MS Office proficient.

· SAP experience would be an advantage.

· Relevant tertiary qualification (preferably in production or manufacturing).

· Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) will be advantageous.
